Why can’t I lose weight?
Why can’t I lose weight?
Often, one may think he/she is eating well and should be losing weight until their intake is put on paper. I highly recommend logging your intake for a week (everything you put into your mouth from the time you awaken until the time you go to bed). Then, examine it with a qualified fitness professional.
You have to be brutally honest with your log; otherwise, the exercise is futile. Unless there is a medical condition, the answer lies within the information you provide. The data won’t lie. Just make sure you don’t either.
Can I lose fat and build muscle?
Can I lose fat and build muscle?
Yes! A well-defined plan of action is key. First and foremost, your diet has to be leaned out to lose fat. Excess sugars and simple carbs will have to be drastically reduced. A solid program of resistance training coupled with some High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T) will aid in your goal of reducing body fat and building lean muscle tissue.
How can I get motivated to achieve my goals?
How can I get motivated to achieve my goals?
I am going to quote something I read as I wholeheartedly agree. “Thinking of this in terms of motivation is why you have failed in the past. The problem you’re trying to solve is consistency and discipline. Motivation isn’t going to keep you consistent or disciplined…Instead, create a habit.
Do you fail to fill up the gas tank in your car because you don’t have the motivation? No. You fill it up because you know it has to be done. Don’t have your level of motivation or desire be what determines whether or not you go to the gym or stick with your diet. Instead, exercise discipline so you can stay consistent.” The Fitness Wiki
How many calories should I consume to lose weight?
How many calories should I consume to lose weight?
As a rough estimate, I suggest taking your current body weight X 10 to arrive at the base amount of calories your body needs to carry out ordinary functions. Of course, we still have to take into account activity level. The more active we are, the more calories we need to sustain us.
To lose weight, therefore, your calorie count will need to be below that level. Make sure that the majority of the calories you do consume are quality calories (e.g. fruits and vegetables). All calories are not created equally.
How often should I workout?
How often should I workout?
This depends on your goals, but generally speaking 3 – 5 days a week is good for overall health and wellness. Regardless of goals, it’s good to give your body at least 2 days of rest to recover from workouts. When we workout, we actually breakdown tissue; however, our bodies rejuvenate during rest periods.
